Director David Hunt

David Hunt was born and raised in Idyllwild. He is a second generation Idyllwild native and his family has lived here since 1931. His maternal Grandfather, John Wilson, was General Manager of the Idyllwild Water District in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. His paternal Grandfather even managed the Fern Valley Water District for a short time. David has been a local business owner since 1973 when he started The Bike Route bicycle shop while in the 9th grade. He attended Idyllwild Elementary School K-8, Hemet Junior and Senior High Schools, Mount San Jacinto College and College of the Redwoods. After receiving a Bachelors degree from Humboldt State University in Industrial Arts, he earned his teaching credentials from UC Riverside and a Masters degree in Vocational Education from CSU San Bernardino. He taught Career Technical Education in most of the local high schools in Hemet and Temecula, as well as Sherman Indian School, for the Riverside County Office of Education and also MSJC Engineering courses in the areas of Manufacturing, Solar and Wind Energy, and Quality Assurance for 27 years. Since retiring, Dave volunteers as a Tahquitz Peak fire lookout, CSA 36 Advisory Committee member, County Park Trails hiker and looks forward to serving the community as a Director of the IWD Board. He loves to hike and bike, as well as continuing to work with his Father, Bud, in the bike shop.
