PUBLIC NOTICE
IDYLLWILD WATER DISTRICT NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF PROPOSED MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION FOR A TEST WELL PROJECT
The Idyllwild Water District (District), as the Lead Agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), will complete an Initial Study (IS) to consider potentially significant environmental impacts that may result from the test well Project.
The proposed project is the drilling of two test wells. One is located on Lower Pine Crest Drive in Idyllwild and the second is on the lower section of South Circle Drive, to evaluate the potential water quality and production capacity at each site. The test well locations have been selected based upon water bearing potential per the NWAS well survey report and permission to drill on the property. The results of the test well will be used in the consideration of a future water production well that would be evaluated as a discrete or separate action under CEQA.
The IS may conclude that implementation of the Test Well Projects will not result in individual or cumulatively significant adverse impacts. Mitigation measures have been provided to reduce potential impacts to the greatest extent feasible. The IS recommends that a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) be issued.
The District will have the IS for public review and comment on November 10, 2009. A copy of the IS will be available for review at the District office. The period of review will be from November 10, 2008 to December 10, 2009. Written comments on the IS should be submitted to: Idyllwild Water District-Attn: Terry Lyons-P.O. Box 397-25945 Hwy. 243-Idyllwild, CA 92549-0397
On December 15, 2009, the District proposes to hold a Public Hearing to receive comments on the above project. Prior to approving the project, the District will adopt the Mitigated Negative Declaration, if appropriate. The technical and environmental issues related to this project will be discussed at this meeting by Environmental Consultant, Tom Dodson and Associates.
